Mentorpalooza In Birmingham

As a part of national mentoring month, The City of Birmingham's Division of Youth Services is engaging mentors across the city in several activities during Mentorpalooza. Mentors and mentees were brought together at A. H. Parker High School for the "2014 He's First, She's First Mentoring Summit"mentoring event in Birmingham, Saturday.The event helps parents, mentors, youth workers and community leaders to gain access to resources that are designed to promote success for students from 6th through 12th grade. {}

According to Birmingham Youth Services, Cedric Sparks, "Both groups need to be taught how to receive and communicate, so that the young person can benefit and become a productive citizen."{}The mentoring summit tackled topics that are sensitive to today's youth.{}{}The Division of Youth Services plans to hold similar mentoring programs throughout the year.
