Mexican Govt. looking at Alabama's immigration law, may violate trade agreement

Could Alabama's immigration law violate an international trade agreement?{} The Service Employees International Union thinks it does. The group has filed a complaint with the Mexican Government, stating that Alabama's law targeting illegal immigrants violates protections guaranteed to migrant workers under a side agreement to the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Mexico's labor department confirms the review based on the complaint filed in April. {}The Mexican government says it has asked the United States to begin talks allowed under the agreement.

Many parts of Governor Robert Bentley's immigration law, which was signed into law last year, have been blocked in the courts.
