Miner killed at Drummond Company's Shoal Creek Mine
A coal miner was killed today after an accident at the Shoal Creek Coal Mine in Jefferson County which is owned and operated by Drummond Company.
The miner was killed after being caught between a power center and the mine rib during the moving of a spare longwall power center.
The miner was given CPR while being transported from underground, but was pronounced dead after being brought to the surface.
In March of this year, a 37-year old electrician was killed at this same mine when he contacted the energized conductors of a shuttle car trailing cable. He was making the final electrical connections for a replacement cable reel when he was electrocuted.
The Shoal Creek Mine is located in Adger, Alabama near Hueytown.
