Minor's Maurice Smitherman commits to Mississippi State

BIRMINGHAM - AL — Minor defensive back Maurice Smitherman will play college football at Mississippi State.The three-star prospect announced his decision on twitter:I'm proud to be a Mississippi State commit #HailState #Dawg15The 5-foot-11, 178 pound Smitherman claimed more than 50 offers, including Florida, Georgia and Alabama but ironically, it was a former Crimson Tide star that convinced him to look outside the state for college. Mississippi State assistant Deshea Townsend was in charge of the Bulldogs recruitment of Smitherman.Smitherman tells various media outlets that he still plans to take officials visits to Georgia and Alabama this summer.
