5-year-old Thomas Evan Diggs, the Talladega boy missing since December 21, was found unharmed in a Daytona Beach motel room in Florida Friday night, the Talladega County Sheriff's Office reports.
Diggs, who had been missing since last Friday, is currently in protective custody in Florida awaiting transportation back to Alabama. The Gulf Coast Regional Task Force assisted in tracking down the boy.
Diggs' father, 35-year-old Thomas Eric Diggs, was arrested on the spot by U.S. Marshals just after 8 p.m. tonight. It is unknown what charges he may face at this time.
Diggs picked his son up at a Talladega-area Arby's last week and was supposed to return the boy to his mother, who has legal custody over the child, later that day. The boy never made it home and the Alabama Department of Public Safety issued a missing child alert.
