More info released about bizarre wreck on I65 last Friday
CALERA - AL — State Troopers release more info about bizarre wreck that claimed a life last Friday. The wreck happened around 6:45pm along Interstate 65 near mile marker 234 near Shelby County Airport.A Chevy Trailblazer traveling northbound with six occupants left the roadway onto the median. While overcorrecting, the driver collided with the rear of a Toyota Camry, causing the car to slide to a stop on the interstate. The Chevy continued off-road to the right of the interstate, overcorrected, and while overturning, 2 people were ejected. The SUV continued rolling back onto the interstate before resting atop the Camry it collided with seconds before. A passenger, Natalie Perez, was ejected and died. She was 46-years-old and from Montgomery. An 8-year-old girl from Millbrook was also ejected. She was taken to Children's of Alabama with serious injuries. The driver of the Chevy is also from Millbrook. She was taken to UAB with serious injuries. The Camry's driver sustained minor injuries and was also taken to UAB.The other occupants of the SUV were uninjured. None of the occupants in the SUV were wearing seatbelts.
