Mother of boy battling leukemia starts birthday card drive

The mother of a Rhode Island boy battling leukemia wants his birthday to be special.

Tyler Seddon will turn 7 on March 6th and his mother says he loves first responders and firefighters. Two weeks ago on Facebook, she sent out a quest for first responders to send Tyler a card. So far, that request has turned their home into a warehouse for cards. Wednesday, the Postal Service delivered 175 packages, UPS dropped off 27. In total, Seddon has received more than 500 items. He has received so many new cards the Postal service had to call in a 7-ton truck to deliver all the packages. Tyler has also received an army uniform, mail from United Kingdom and some rare items such as badges from Vietnam. Tyler needs a bone marrow transplant and he is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Any first responder who would like to send him a birthday card can send them to 96 South Main St., Pascoag, R.I. 02859. A website, "Tyler's Troops" is currently being set up for more information.
