JEFFERSON COUNTY, Alabama -- A Mountain Brook man was killed early Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle crash involving a RV and an Alabama State Troopers cruiser on Interstate 459, authorities said. Joseph Conzelman, 52, died just before 2 a.m. when the 2011 Porsche Panamera he was driving through a construction zone in Hoover struck a 1997 Bounder RV before crashing into a utility pole, according to Alabama State Troopers. The occupants in the RV were not injured. A state trooper's patrol car, which was parked in the construction zone and outside of the travel lanes with its emergency lights activated, was also hit and sustained minor damage. The state trooper wasn't injured. Sgt. Steve Jarrett said speed played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.
