Ms Viola Thomas crowned Ms Alabama Nursing Home

Monday afternoon, Ms. Viola Thomas was crowned Ms. Alabama Nursing Home. The Ms. Alabama Nursing Home Pageant was held at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover.{} by Miss Alabama 2012 Anna Laura Bryan, co-hosted the event and presented the crown.

Ms. Thomas was born in West Memphis, Arkansas, but was raised in Chicago, Illinois. She is now a resident at Willow Trace Nursing Center in Butler, Alabama. At Willow Trace, the 92 year old is Vice President of the Resident Council, and she is also a member of the Welcoming Committee and the Red Hat Society.

Ms. Thomas will travel to several community events and nursing homes to share her experiences as Ms. Alabama Nursing Home. She will also serve as an ambassador for other nursing home residents at different Alabama Nursing Home Association events.

The top 10 finalists from the field of 64 contestants had individual interviews with the panel of celebrity judges before competing on stage for the crown.{} All of the other contestants in attendance were part of the Honor Court and were individually recognized during the pageant.{}"These ladies are wonderful ambassadors of their individual nursing homes and Alabama's long-term care profession," Alabama Nursing Home Association President Eddie Jackson said.{} "I believe that each lady is a winner because she is actively involved in the life of her nursing home and shares her optimistic outlook on life with her fellow residents,"
