National, local leaders tour storm-ravaged Bessemer

In fourth day of recovery since tornadoes tore through parts of Alabama Monday, local and national leaders toured some of the hardest hit areas.U.S. Representative Terri Sewell, D-Birmingham, Alabama EMA Director Art Faulkner and the Bessemer City Council walked through storm-ravaged parts of Bessemer.The group first stop was at the Timberline West Apartments, where more than 54 people were displaced, according to a complex representative."It's amazing there was no loss of life," Sewell said, while staring at extensive roof damage.Sewell and Faulkner say they both support Alabama Governor Robert Bentley's request for federal aid for the disaster.A Red Cross representative tells ABC 33/40 more than 340 people have registered at the agency's shelter at the Bessemer Civic Center.Stay with ABC 33/40 for more on this developing story.
