NCAA conference commissioners agree on name for new college football playoff

BCS Executive Director Bill Hancock and other NCAA college football conference commissioners agreed to call the new playoff "College Football Playoff" Tuesday.

College football's new playoff will be called 'College Football Playoff'.

The major college football conference commissioners agreed on the name Tuesday in Los Angeles, according to ESPN. An official announcement will come later in the day.

"It will be simple," BCS executive director Bill Hancock said earlier in the week. "It will not be cutesy. And it will be descriptive. I've seen too many people make mistakes by trying to be cutesy."

The College Football Playoff will replace the Bowl Championship Series after next season. The four-team playoff goes into affect after the 2014 regular season.
