NCAA could be in favor of early signing period for football
The NCAA is considering an early signing period for football.
Susan Peal told ESPN in an interview that the potential early signing period would not replace the current national signing day, but thinks it's an option that needs to be considered.
"I think there's more momentum now than ever just because of the changes that are happening with recruiting regulations," Peal told ESPN. "The landscape is changing, so it's time to look at it again."
Peal says the potential early signing window for football could be early fall, late summer or early summer.
Many other NCAA sports have an early signing period in place which allows student athletes flexibility of when to submit a national letter of intent.
College football's national signing day is traditionally the first Wednesday in February.
