Neighbors thankful for no injuries after emergency landing

An emergency plane landing in Trussville Thanksgiving Day has neighbors thankful no one was seriously injured. Virginia Beach pilot, Kent Ewing reported engine problems to {}the Birmingham Airport tower then his plane went down, crashing into trees. {}It came down in a hay farm near the Cahaba Cove subdivision. We talked with neighbors who say they're thankful the pilot found the open field.

"About the time of the crash, I heard the plane circling overhead and he was searching for the plane that crashed," Ed Newman, a neighbor said.

"I was amazed it happened this close to the airport and proud that the people survived it," Charles Vines, who lives next to the crash site said.

Thankfully, everyone had just minor injuries. The pilot's son and his son's girlfriend were on board. The FAA is investigating.
