New abortion law causes protest in Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE - AL —
Pro-life supporters lined one side of Huntsville's Airport Road, Saturday. Pro-choice supporters lined the other side.
Both groups gathered outside Crestwood Medical Center voicing opinion about Alabama's new abortion law.
The new law mandates that doctors who perform abortions in Alabama must have admitting privileges to a local hospital.
One side of the protest argues the new law makes abortions safer, while the other side says it restricts women's rights to have an abortion.
Seven other states have similar laws.
Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit in June to stop the new abortion law.
