New Developments in Case Against Thorsby Kidnapping Suspects

      Court records show developments in the case against two Moulton men accused of kidnapping a woman from a house.

      According to court records, Scotty Ray Smith has waived his rights to a hearing and Panagiotis Theodoroy has a preliminary hearing scheduled for next month. {}

      Investigators say Smith and Theodory entered the home of a 94-year-old man on March 31 and robbed him. During the robbery, two other victims entered the house.{} The three victims were held, two of the men were tied up and the suspects took the woman to her home. Investigators say they transported her to her home , took property, and later dropped her off in Calera.

      Smith's case will now go straight to the grand jury for indictment. Theodory has a preliminary hearing on July 24 at 9 a.m.
