New Rotary Trail could soon be reality in Birmingham

This time next year, {}downtown Birmingham may have a trail linking popular landmarks.

City leaders approved a deal in a committee meeting Monday that would dedicate more than $3 million toward the Rotary Trail project. But preparations for this linear park have already begun to take shape.

The Rotary Club of Birmingham calls it a legacy project for its centennial. The group has already dedicated millions to the trail's construction. The path from 20th Street to 24th Street, along First Avenue South,will {}follow what's known as the old "railroad cut."
