New website for drivers on Hwy 280 proposed changes

      Some residents in the Mountain Brook area have started a website called,{}

      which allows them send their Highway 280 concerns directly to the Alabama Department of

      Transportation. ALDOT recently proposed 26 changes to help ease traffic flow on the highway.

      Some of those changes include removing traffic signals and increasing U-turns. Some drivers,

      including Mountain Brook resident Ali Powell, believes the change for the Cherokee Road

      and Highway 280 intersection could cause accidents. Brian Davis, ALDOT traffic engineer,

      tells ABC 33/40 the changes are subject to change, and the agency is open for public comment

      until Friday at 11:59 p.m. Davis says ALDOT will review submissions in its future plans and surveys.

      Davis says construction to Highway 280 is still slated to begin May to July 2013.
