New York City Board of Health to Vote on Large Soda Ban

New York City's Board of Health is expected to vote on and approve a ban on large sodas Thursday.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg is pushing for the ban to limit the size of sugary drinks to 16 ounces or less in places like restaurants and movie theatres. {}He says that's because of the link between sugar and obesity.If passed, the ban would go into effect in March 2013. {}Soft drink groups say they plan to file for an injunction before the law could become active.New York was also the first city to outlaw trans-fats in foods and smoking in bars or restaurants.{}
