      No charges filed In New Year's Day Shooting

      The Jefferson County District Attorney's office has ruled a fatal shooting as justifiable and says no charges will be filed.{}

      Police say 36-year-old Desmond Bias died after he and his wife got into a fight with another couple in Midfield. The fight then moved to Wesley Avenue in Birmingham's Roosevelt City community and that's where Bias was shot at around 1:30 a.m. An unidentified man was taken into custody.

      Today, the district attorney's office says no charges will be filed against the shooter because he was defending himself when the shooting occurred.
