North Alabama Under Flood Watch

(AP) Flash flood warnings have been issued in north Alabama because of heavy rain.

The National Weather Service says storms crossing into the Tennessee Valley will bring rainfall totals from 1 to 3 inches by Today. Northeastern Alabama was being pelted with rain Monday afternoon, and emergency workers had to help stranded motorists in some places.{}{} {}The weather service says streams along the Tennessee River will rise because of runoff from the storms.{}{} {}Forecasters say south Alabama will also see heavy rains. Authorities say people living in areas that are prone to flooding should be prepared in case floods develop.{}{} {}The weather service says Tuesdays' forecast calls for showers likely and a possible thunderstorm, mainly before 1 p.m.
