Northport man accidentally shoots himself, daughter while cleaning gun


A father and his daughter were injured after a gun he was cleaningaccidentally fired.

Tuscaloosa County Homicide Unit investigators were called byNorthport Police to an accidental shooting. Captain Lloyd Baker with thehomicide unit says a 45-year-old man was cleaning his 9-millimeter pistol when itaccidentally discharged. A bullet struck the man in his left leg. His 6-year-olddaughter was grazed by the projectile after it exited her father's leg.

Both father and daughter were transported to DCH. The 6-year-oldwas treated for minor injury and the man is undergoing surgery for his wound.
