Northport Police launch program to teach kids gun safety

Northport Police Department is launching their gun safety program for children Pre-K to 3rd grade this summer.

The goal of the program{}is to teach{}children what to do if they come in to contact with a gun.

It is a{}five day, 45 minute program,{}specifically designed to retain each age groups attention by using coloring pages, dancing, and an Eddie Eagle video.

On the last day, each child will be presented with a Certificate of Merit from Eddie Eagle for completing the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program. They will also be given a Parents' Guide to Gun Safety to take home for their guardians.
