      NWS Birmingham issues hard freeze warning for every county in central Alabama Tuesday night

      Below is an update from the ABC 33/40 Weather Blog regarding a hard freeze warning issued by the NWS in Birmingham.

      With snow on the ground, and a very cold Arctic air mass in place, it is going to be a bitterly cold night across Central Alabama. The NWS in Birmingham has issued a Hard Freeze Warning for every county in their CWA.

      Later this evening, temperatures will fall below 15 degrees and that is where they will stay until tomorrow. With snow on the ground, we could actually see temps fall into single digits.

      HARD FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM CST WEDNESDAY

      THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM HAS ISSUED A HARD FREEZE WARNINGWHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM CST WEDNESDAY.

      * TEMPERATURESWILL FALL INTO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE TEENS AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL ALABAMA.

      * IMPACTSTEMPERATURES IN THE TEENS MAY CAUSE WATER PIPES TO RUPTUREAND POSE A THREAT TO SENSITIVE VEGETATION AND LIVESTOCK. THESE CONDITIONS ARE ALSO POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS TO PEOPLE AND PETS WHO ARE VULNERABLE TO THE COLD.
