One of two suspects charged in connection to rape and kidnapping in Jefferson Co. had prior rape conviction
ABC 33/40 reporter Cory McGinnis has learned that one of the two suspects charged in connection to last weekend's rape, robbery and kidnapping in west Jefferson County had previously been convicted of rape in Massachusetts.
Scott Charles Blaisdell, 48, served time in prison for a rape conviction before he was arrested on Saturday after allegedly assaulting a 22-year-old male and raping and kidnapping an 18-year-old female in a secluded area on Flat Top Road.
Blaisdell is charged with rape, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and two counts of kidnapping. Due to his sex offender status, an additional charge of violation of the Sex Offender Registry Act is expected to be filed against him.
A second suspect in Saturday's incident, Cori Wayne Miller, 22, remained at-large until this afternoon when he was apprehended at a Forestdale Wal-Mart by Adamsville Police officers. He has since been turned over to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and is undergoing questioning by detectives.
Miller has a history of drug possession and was convicted of a burglary and assault in Adamsville just two years ago. He was sentenced to prison in May of 2011.
