Man killed in fire at condemned Old Adams Inn in Birmingham
Birmingham Fire and Rescue crews are fighting a fire at the old Adams Inn at 10th Street N and 3rd Avenue N.
A firefighter on the scene told ABC 33/40 6-8 people were living in the building. One man was killed and there is no word on any injuries. Red Cross is on the scene assisting those people.
The fire started one the second floor of the structure, in the early morning hours Friday. The cause of the blaze is unknown.
This is not the first fire at the old Adams Inn. The building was badly damaged in a fire in July 2013. The Birmingham City council has approved $750,000 to demolish the building, but action has not yet been taken on the project. The council plans to clear the property for new development.
