Operation Parental Control: Police crack down on curfew violations by arresting parents

Parents in Birmingham are paying the price for their children breaking curfew in the city.

A total of 26 arrests were made by the Birmingham Police Department in connection with Operation Parental Control.

Parents with outstanding curfew violation warrants due to their children's non-compliance with the city's curfew ordinance were arrested in the operation. Officers also arrested several juveniles with outstanding warrants for misdemeanor and felony charges.

The operation took place at 3 a.m. Wednesday and began with a total of 66 outstanding violations and 10 juvenile pickup orders.

Breakdown of arrests:

23 outstanding curfew violations and failure to appear warrants were cleared.

Five misdemeanor warrants were cleared.

One Failure to Appear warrant on a Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substances charge.

Two felony juvenile pickup orders for Robbery 1st degree and Theft of Property 1st degree were executed.{}
