Oxford gets grant to buy Tasers
Governor Robert Bentley delivered some good news to Oxford Mayor Leon Smith. Bentley has awarded a $9,836 grant to help the city purchase equipment for the police department.Oxford will purchase Tasers to equip police officers with a non-lethal tool to help them subdue uncooperative suspects who pose a threat to the officers and the public.
The Department of Justice funds will be administered by The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. ADECA administers a wide range or programs that support law enforcement, workforce development, energy conservation, economic development, water resource management and recreation.
