Panel discussion on Jordan Davis Murder Trial Thursday

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute will host a special program to honor Black History month tomorrow.

The program, "Is Justice Different For Young Black Males?" will provide a forum of public discussion of the recent verdict of the Michael Dunn/Jordan Davis Murder trial in Jacksonville, Florida.{} Prosecutors say Jordan Davis was killed by Michael Dunn when they argued over loud music in a convenience store parking lot in November of 2012. A jury found Dunn guilty of attempted murder for firing into the car where Davis and the other teenagers were sitting. The jury was deadlocked on whether Dunn was guilty of murder. Dunn claimed he fired in self defense. The community discussion will be led by Ahmad Ward, the head of education and exhibition at BCRI, and will feature a legal expert to answer questions.
