Birmingham man, 23, charged in fatal crash in Georgia
DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- A Birmingham man is being held without bond after hitting and killing a woman in Georgia on Wednesday, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Dewey Calhoun Green, 23, is charged with murder, aggravated assault and battery in connection with the death of 53-year-old Janice Pitts. According to police, Green rear-ended the victim's car and after she got out to check for damage, he hit the woman and pinned her between the two vehicles. Authorities say the man then ran her over and tried fleeing the scene but was detained by witnesses. Green was booked into the Douglas County Jail just before 7 p.m. It's unclear if Green has an attorney.
