Pell City Board of Education members didn't go into detail about the alleged misconduct by former high school head football coach David Shores, but said they plan on moving forward with newly-hired coach Brooks Dampeer from Spain Park.

Shores and one of his assistant coaches, Jon Clements, resigned from their positions at Pell City High School on Tuesday.

Sources tell ABC 33/40 that an investigation centers{}around inappropriate text messages with a student, but board members have yet to confirm or deny the allegations, leaving the community wondering what happened.

Local resident Julia Sheridan says, "When it involves children, you shouldn't hold back any information, at all."

"It was improper conduct on behalf of our employees and they chose to make a decision to resign, and we honor that and we accept that," says Superintendent Dr. Bobby Hathcock.
