Person arrested in Blount County after making threat to school on Facebook
BLOUNT COUNTY - AL —
A person is in police custody today after making a non-specified threat against a school on Facebook.
Oneonta Police Chief James Chapman tells ABC 33/40 that the suspect was arrested after making a non-specified threat against a school. Authorities were tipped off by a private message from a concerned citizen that alerted police of a threatening Facebook post made by the suspect.
All county and city schools and School Resource Officers in the Blount County area were notified about the threat. Schools were then under close watch by law enforcement and school officials.
Deputies arrested the suspect without incident at a residence in Blount County in a joint effort by Oneonta Police and the Blount County Sheriff's Office.
