Peterlin named executive director of GBHS

The Greater Birmingham Humane Society's board of directors has announced that Karen Peterlin has been named the new Executive Director for the organization.{}

"After months of an extensive nationwide search and meeting with several qualified candidates, we found exactly what we were looking for right here in Birmingham," stated Lucy Thompson Marsh, board chair for the GBHS. Peterlin, who currently serves as the CEO/President of Kid One Transport, joins the GBHS with a strong background in nonprofit financial management, fundraising, and program management.

"I appreciate the opportunity to work with a well diverse and knowledgeable staff and to use my skills to lead this organization to a new level of greatness," Peterlin said.

Prior to joining Kid One, in March 2008, Peterlin served in multiple leadership capacities for the Girl Scouts of North Alabama, Inc. from 2000-2007, including Associate Director for Membership and Training, Chief Operating Officer, and Acting Chief Executive Officer.{}{}Peterlin also has a distinguished history of service in the U.S. Army serving in several key positions across the country.
