ANNISTON, Ala. -- Officials with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department say a man has been indicted in connection with the 2009 killing of 28-year-old Carla Michelle Fuqua of Piedmont.
A Calhoun County grand jury has indicted 52-year-old Jimmy Ray Steed of Piedmont on a murder charge for the slaying of Fuqua, who went missing from her home in October 2009 until investigators discovered her remains in a wooded area near her home three years later.
"[Steed] is in jail for doing a horrible crime
Steed is being held in the Calhoun County jail on a $300,000 bond. A court hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 17.
