"Pitch Party" set for Birmingham's DNC site visit

      A free party is set for next week in Birmingham as a team with the Democratic National Committee visits the Magic City. Birmingham is one of several cities vying to host the 2016 DNC Convention.The "Pitch Party" will take place at Iron City in Birmingham on Monday, July 21, according to a source. It will feature performers, including B. Brian, Just a Few Cats and the Black Jacket Symphony. Pepsi is an event sponsor. Supporters will be able to reserve a spot for the free event via an online link.Link for reservations: leaders have been meeting for weeks to discuss potential plans and venues for the DNC site visit. The Mayor's Office will not release any details of those plans at this time.The DNC says it will visit Columbus, Ohio, on Aug. 6-7; New York on Aug. 11-12; Philadelphia on Aug. 13-14; and Phoenix on Sept. 10-11. Cleveland has been selected to host the Republican National Convention. A DNC spokesperson tells ABC 33/40, because of that, Cleveland will more than likely not receive a site visit from the DNC.The DNC is expected to name the host city late this year or early 2015.Stay with ABC 33/40 for more on this story.
