Two years after deadly tornado, Pleasant Grove Assembly of God still moves forward

On April 27th, 2011 the devastating tornado rocked the state of Alabama and also hit a local church.

Pleasant Grove Assembly of God has since rebuild, and today the church continued to celebrate in their new building.

The tornado killed hundreds of people across the state; out of that number two people were killed at P.G.A. But it didn't stop church members from worshipping.

Longtime church member Mary Adams says, "We did not miss one church service. We have come to realize that the building is not the church, the people are the church." Kim Kane who's apart of the music department also weighed in and says, "We quickly went to a church down in Hueytown that offered to let us use their facilities. We were there for about six to nine months."

A dozen people lost their lives in Pleasant Grove in the April 2011 storms. But the church and the community are moving forward.
