Police find no gunman at St. Vincent's Hospital Sunday

Birmingham police say they found no gunman or any evidence of a weapon being on the St. Vincent's Hospital campus Sunday morning.

Just before noon, reports surfaced of a possible gunman at the hospital. But police say they weren't true.{}

According to Birmingham police,{}a relative was{}turned away from visiting Jason Letts' wife because he was not on the visitor list. He got upset when he was told to leave. But there was no evidence that he was armed.

To add to the confusion, shots were fired in the nearby Southtown public housing community earlier in the morning. Police say a bullet hit a fifth floor hospital window.

Police say the two incidents are unrelated.

This comes just a day after Letts exchanged gunfire with two Birmingham police officers inside the hospital on the{}fifth floor. One officer and two employees were wounded. Letts was shot and killed.
