      Update: Suspect turns self in after shooting on Monroe Ave in Birmingham


      An apartment manager is undergoing surgery for life threatening injuries after she was shot inside her office, by a former resident. Birmingham Police tell us, the suspect had just been evicted."It happened to be in my area where I live," E.D., a neighbor said. "You don't know what's happening these days."Birmingham Police tell us, the shooting happened just after 9:30 this morning."We found our suspect was evicted yesterday, returned today in his vehicle, rammed a couple of vehicles in the parking lot, also damaged some other vehicles with a hammer," Sgt. Johnny Williams, Birmingham Police said.Then, police tell us, he went inside and shot the apartment manager."The suspect is an older male," Sgt. Williams said. "He turned himself in to the city jail. We have him in custody, our investigators are about to interview him at this point."When they first arrived, Birmingham Police were trying to locate the suspect, and {}set up a perimeter around the complex.{}Sgt. Johnny Williams says just a while later, he turned himself in at the Birmingham City Jail. {}"It's sad," E.D. said. "Like the police say, the homicides went down - They're trying to make it a better place but they'll never do it.""I never would have thought that would happen - not over there at the Four Winds West," Lisa Johnson, who lives nearby said. "Oh my goodness. {}I would have never thought that, but you never know what's on a person's mind. You just never know."



      Update:The suspect was a resident at Four Winds West Apartments who was evicted Thursday. He returned to the apartment complex and shot the manager, who is currently in surgery at UAB.


      Update:According to Birmingham Police, one female was injured in the shooting and has been transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The suspect has turned himself in at the City Jail.


      There has been a shooting in the 1300 block of Monroe Avenue in Birmingham. At this time we are unable to confirm the number of people injured or the extent of their injuries.
