Update:The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences has positively identified the body recovered Monday as being 45 year old Margie Mize from Anniston. The cause of death has not yet been determined.


Update:Anniston police believe a body found in a wrecked car Cleburne County is a woman who disappeared two weeks ago.Investigators found Margie Mize's vehicle upside down in a ravine along County Road 24, about two miles from the Calhoun County line.{} Officers believe the body found inside the car is the 45-year-old woman from Anniston.Police said Mize's dog Katey was with her owner's vehicle when they arrived, and appeared uninjured.

The border collie-beagle mix was with Mize when friends last saw her on Tuesday, June 24th.{} An Anniston animal control officer came to retrieve the dog, but Katey ran off into the woods, and police said Mize's family plans to go try to find her.A tarp covered the vehicle on the back of a tow truck as it drove away, but Anniston investigators said it was the bronze Nissan Sentra they were looking for.Police issued a missing persons alert June 27.{} Mize did not collect her most recent paycheck, which officers found suspicious.Investigators recently received copies of her phone records to try to assist them in their search.{} Police said cellular tower data last pinged in the Friendship community, near the Cleburne and Calhoun County border.Officers went to the area Monday morning to look for the vehicle.{} After an unsuccessful search by car, investigators began to walk along Cleburne County Road 24 with a search dog, and found Mize's vehicle at least 30 feet down the hill from the road.Investigators said it appears she veered off the pavement as the road curved around to the left on the way back to Oxford, and struck a tree at the bottom of the ravine.The crash remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.{} Anniston police said the Department of Forensic Science in Huntsville will conduct an autopsy to confirm the body is Margie Mize.----------Police and friends are looking for any information to help find a missing Anniston woman. 45 year old Margie Mize was last seen in South Oxford June 24th.A Facebook page called "Help Find Margie" is now set up to help find Mize. Friends asked for people to be on the look out for her as they traveled this July 4th holiday. Pictures of her three tattoos were even posted to help identify her.Mize was last seen on Highway 21 South near McIntosh Road. She may be driving a bronze Nissan Sentra with a pink paw print sticker on the back.Her dog is also missing.Anyone who has information or who has made contact with her is asked to call Anniston police.
