Police surround Birmingham home involved in shooting

Birmingham Police have confirmed with ABC 33/40 that they have surrounded a house after a shooting occurred nearby.

According to authorities, two people were shot Saturday night, and officers have guns drawn on the scene at the 800 Block of 50th Street North. The two victims have been transported to UAB Hospital.

ABC 33/40's Sherrie Evans says officers are using a megaphone to communicate with a person inside the house.

Update 12:34 a.m. 9/30

Sherrie Evans says a person emerged from the house with his hands up. Police have taped off the house and declined to comment.

A neighbor spoke to her at the scene and we will have more on this story as it becomes available.

There have been no arrests.
