Price of postage goes up this weekend

The U.S. Postal Service{}will{}raise{}the price of stamps by three cents, beginning Sunday.{}{}It goes{}from 46 to 49 cents.

The hike is the largest increase in consumer postage prices in more than a decade.{} It will affect millions of people, even though fewer Americans use snail mail, these days,{}to pay bills and keep in touch.

The agency's regulator gave the green light for the hike back in December to keep up with inflation and recoup losses incurred during the great recession.{} However, the price of 49 cents will last no more than two years because regulators rejected a request to make the price hike permanent.
