A Ragland teen has been charged with capital murder in connection with the death of his 9-year-old half-sister in 2012, St. Clair County District Attorney Richard Minor announced Thursday.

John Dillon Salers, 15, was indicted by a grand jury for the murder of Katelyn Arnold, who was found hanged to death at her home in Ragland on May 10. The district attorney's office presented evidence to the jury this week resulting in the subsequent indictment.

Salers, who was 14 years old at the time of the murder, is scheduled to be arraigned in November.

The homicide investigation was conducted by the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office.
