Ranburne's Chase Whitley scheduled to make his big-league debut with Yankees

The New York Yankees are expected to send Chase Whitley to the mound to face the New York Mets on Thursday night.It will be the big-league debut for the Ranburne, Ala. native. Whitley was called up to the majors earlier this week after spending the first part of the season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He has a 2.39 ERA in six starts this season.Whitley, 24, graduated from Ranburne High School in 2007. He was part of the school's 2006 2A state championship team.He played college baseball at Troy and was selected by the Yankees in the 15th round of the 2010 draft.The Yankees and the Mets play Thursday at Citi Field, which is home of the Mets. The first pitched is schedule for 6:10 p.m. in the central time zone.
