DeLoss Dodds could be nearing the end of his run in the University of Texas athletics department.
The Austin American-Statesman newspaper reports that Dodds, 76, will step down as Longhorns athletics director next year.
The newspaper says the official announcement could come on Tuesday.
Dodds has been Texas athletics director for 32 years. Earlier this year he denied reports that he would be stepping down in the near future.
Dodds hired current Texas head coach Mack Brown and is believed to be one of the coaches main allies in the athletics department, despite the football teams 24-18 record since it reached the 2010 BCS Championship Game.
