Richie Petitbon didn't want to leave Alabama without giving Nick Saban his word that he would return.
The four-star offensive lineman from Washington D.C. committed in person to be part of the Crimson Tide's 2015 signing class.
Rivals.com was the first to report the story.
Petitbon, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 296 pounds, flew to Alabama for his visit Friday morning.
Maryland, Penn State and LSU were among the teams that Alabama beat for Petitbon verbal commitment.
He's the grandson of former NFL player and coach Richie Petitbon. The elder Petitbon was a defensive back for the Chicago Bears, L.A. Rams and Washington Redskins in his 14 year playing career. He then spent 16 years on the Redskins coaching staff, serving as the head coach in 1993.
