Rubble smoldering after fire consumes eight blocks of New Jersey boardwalk

Dawn isrevealing the extent of the damage from a wind-whipped fire that devoured eightblocks of boardwalk in two Jersey shore resort towns yesterday.

Smoke isstill rising from the ruins of more than 50 businesses as firefighters inSeaside Park and Seaside Heights continue pouring water on hot spots.

Investigatorsnow have the daunting task of determining what sparked the blaze near a frozencustard stand in Seaside Park on Thursday.

Firefightersliterally drew a line in the sand and created a fire break to prevent theflames from spreading deep into Seaside Heights.

Officialshave already begun estimating the cost to rebuild as Seaside Park officials saidit would cost about $600,000 to rebuild their part of the boardwalk.
