Latta, Standridge in runoff


The Associated Press reports that Blount County Probate Judge David Standridge and Oneonta banker Chris Latta will face off in a Republican primary runoff to determine who will fill a vacant Alabama House seat in Blount and Jefferson counties. {}That's House District 34.Standridge got just 36% of the vote and Latta- 22%. {}There was a total of six candidates in the Republican primary race Tuesday. {}They will vie to replace Republican Elwyn Thomas of Oneonta. {}According to the AP, he resigned to become executive director of the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission.The runoff is set for December 11, 2012. {}No Democrat is running for the seat.
