Judge approves sale of bankrupt G.W. Carver Memorial Gardens cemetery
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- A US Bankrupty Court judge approved the sale of the bankrupt G.W. Carver Memorial Gardens cemetery to a Birmingham-area businessman, ABC 33/40 has confirmed.
The cemetery, which abruptly closed in September 2012 before filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy one month later, will be sold to Cedrick McMillian, who offered $18,000 for the property earlier this month. It is unknown at this time the final sale price agreed upon by both parties.
In a previous court hearing, it was reported that the cemetery had at least four different groups interested in purchasing the property.
ABC 33/40 will update this story with additional details as it becomes available.
