Salvation Army shelter & food

Emergency shelters around central Alabama are expected to see a boost in people looking for a warm place over the next few days.{} The Birmingham Salvation Army is now helping anyone needing shelter from the cold.{} The Salvation Army will offer free food and shelter to anyone needing it. A warming shelter is open in Shelby County at 108 Plaza Circle in Alabaster.{} Doors opened at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday and it will remain open until 9:00 p.m.{} The same hours will follow Wednesday and Thursday if needed.{} Coffee is available for 24 hours, for any emergency personnel.{} Lunch will be made available for anyone who needs it at 11:30 a.m.{} Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.

The Salvation Army will also assist the warming station located at Boutwell in downtown Birmingham with coffee, snacks, and blankets.{} Personnel is also located at the EMA offices in Jefferson County and in Clanton.
