Sam Gillikin will honor his commitment to the Tigers and will play college baseball for Auburn next year.On Tuesday, Gillikin turned down nearly $800,000 to play for the Chicago Cubs. He was an early second round selection, selected No. 67 overall.Gillikin said the decision was a tough one, adding that the Cubs only gave him 10 minutes to make it.The former Hoover football and baseball star said he and his family gathered around the table and after a short deliberation, he reached a decision.
"I decided to turn it down, I stood strong with my commitment, I believe in what the coaches are doing down there and I want to be an Auburn Tiger and felt like that was the best decision," Gillikin said. "I felt like I love Auburn, I wanted to be an Auburn Tiger."
