Samford tops Wofford on Senior Day in double overtime, 24-17

The Samford Bulldogs, on Senior Day, took down No. 6 Wofford in double overtime, 24-17, on Saturday.

Senior quarterback Andy Summerlin led the Bulldogs to their sixth win of the year after throwing a fourth quarter touchdown at the end of regulation to force overtime, then the game-winning touchdown to Kelsey Pope in the second overtime.{} He finished the day 29-of-35 passing for 165 yards.

Samford's final score in regulation capped off a 17-play drive that began on their own 28-yard-line with less than two minutes remaining in the game.{} Summerlin completed a crucial 18-yard pass to Riley Hawkins to the Wofford 1-yard line, setting up the Bulldogs' game-tying touchdown.

Wofford's Kasey Redfern missed a 33-yard field goal in the opening possession of the first overtime, but Samford was unable to take advantage as Cameron Yaw missed a 34-yard, game-winning field goal, forcing the second overtime.

Following Samford's touchdown play to open the second overtime, Wofford's Cam Flowers fumbled the ball and the Bulldogs recovered to secure the victory.

Samford moved to 6-3 on the year and 4-3 in Southern Conference play with the win.
